TRANSIT

The Astrologer's Newsletter - May/June 2005

Hallo and welcome to the May/June Transit!

In this issue, you will find the latest Council News; please read this, as it has an important notice about the annual AGM and nominations for the AA Council, as well as the latest news on this year’s annual Conference (which promises to be the best ever!)

If you’'re considering undertaking a Masters degree or a Doctorate, take a look at the notice from the Research Group for the Critical Study of Astrology. This is a body that has been set up to encourage advance academic research into astrology, and it is offering funding to suitable students.

We also have the start of a new feature - profiles of all Council members, starting with the President and Vice-President, Roy Gillett and Nick Campion. Another new feature is the Back Page - a collection of astrologically-oriented jokes and cartoons. Paul Newman, whose cartoons appear regularly in The Mountain Astrologer, has kindly agreed to let us publish some of his latest cartoons. If you fancy yourself as a cartoonist, or have some good (clean) astrological jokes, please send them in!

An old feature, which many will welcome back, is David Fisher’s Data Corner, where he shares some of his huge collection of celebrity birth data. And we have Jenni Dean Harte’s roundup of world astrology news.

Well, that’s enough from me - get reading!

News from the Urania Trust

The Urania Trust would like to publicise their grant application scheme. This is open to local groups for equipment and individuals for publications. To date, we have contributed towards the reissue of out-of-print classic books, the publication of conference papers and the translation of Galileo’s astrology, with other projects in the pipeline.

Each application is judged on its merits at the biannual trustees meetings, the next of which is the 9th September 2005. Applications for grants should be sent to: The Urania Trust, BCM Urania, Monomark House, 27 Old Gloucester Street, London WC1N 3XX

The Yearbook of Worldwide Astrology that the Urania Trust has published for many years is now only available on line. See our website www.uraniatrust.org
