In The Loop March 2017

Angela CornishWelcome to the August edition of In the Loop.

Our special 60th anniversary Conference at Wokefield Hall started with our exciting trip to see the solstice at Stonehenge, one of the most impressive and well known prehistoric stone monuments in the world. About twenty of us set off by coach at 2am to arrive at the site well before daylight. As we approached in the darkness, we could hear the haunting rhythm and vibration of the Druid drums.

Once inside the site, the atmosphere was mesmerizing - people were dancing, laughing and chatting and the mood was amiable as we crammed into the circle of the stones awaiting sunrise. It was daylight approximately 45 minutes before the Sun actually came into view but, when the moment arrived and the Sun's disc appeared over the horizon, the thunder of applause and cheers was awesome and you felt like you had just witnessed something truly magical and mystical.
